Salt Core Production
The core is 3D printed and sealed resulting in a smooth surface. Our cores withstand high temperatures and pressures during manufacturing.
Composite Placement
At this stage, control remains in your hands: the cores integrate seamlessly into your existing processes, be it RTM, prepreg, wet layup, autoclaving, or others.
Removal of the Core
Core removal has never been easier; it dissolves in water eliminating complex demolding and special waste making it clean and environmentally sustainable.
Your Final Part
The result is a complex hollow part manufactured as a single component. With the option to optimize topology through internal channels unlocking new possibilities.

From Research to Venture
Our Story
Sallea AG was founded in November 2023 in Zurich. It is an ETH spin-off and has its roots in material science. The foundation of sallea’s technology was built during the PhD and Master’s thesis of two of its co-founders. From the very beginning the aim was to transfer the design freedom of 3D printing to other hard-to or non-printable materials for advanced manufacturing, biological, and medical applications.
Why We Chose Salt
We chose salt for its simplicity, abundance and versatility. It occurs naturally, is widely available and has been used for centuries to preserve and protect. For manufacturing, it holds its shape under pressure, is chemically stable and dissolves reliably in water.
For us salt is the obvious choice. It always has been.
